2012 New Model 2014, 2015 Toyota Camry available in Left Hand Drive in Forward Motors Dubai and Forward Motors United States and available in Right Hand Drive from Forward Motors Thailand, Forward Motors Australia, Forward Motors New Zealand and Forward Motors United Kingdom

Toyota Camry was introduced in Dubai market in 1990 to replace Toyota Cressida. 2013 Toyota Camry in Gulf market comes in four trim levels, and the “sports” body kit is standard on all but the base model. Toyota has improved the dynamics on all the versions.

The model one step above the base version is called Toyota Camry SE in the UAE, and Toyota Camry GLX in Oman and Saudi Arabia. This model comes with the sporty body kit, cloth interior, dual exhaust tips and 16-inch alloy wheels.

2012 Toyota Camry now comes with a leatherette-padded dash with real stitching, so it has a premium feel. The cabin’s faux wood trim, padded upper-door sills and beige colour scheme adds to that effect.

Toyota Camry has a lot of space. When compared with 2011 version, Toyota has added an extra inch of legroom front and back and additional extra headroom in the back within the same dimensions. The cabin space in 2011 Toyota Camry was spacious to begin with, with a huge boot, split-folding rear seats, some small cubbies, and enough exposed cup-holders to store an entire menu of drinks in the car.

Even though Toyota Camry SE or Toyota Camry GLX is only one step above basic, it comes with a host of features:  touchscreen stereo, six half-decent speakers, USB ports, Bluetooth phone, power windows and electric mirrors, power-adjustable driver’s seat, ABS, keyless entry, fog lamps, cruise control, rear camera with sensors and even a strong dual-zone auto a/c with rear vents, and dual airbags. The next trim level adds side-curtain airbags, stability control, sunroof, leather, navigation, keyless start and a bevy of other niceties.

Engine

Toyota Camy now comes with the powerful 2.5-litre 4-cylinder motor that delivers 181 hp at 6000 rpm, 3 horses more than the base model due to its dual exhaust system. It also makes 235 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm, sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic with manual capability. It clocks a 0-100 kph time of 8.8 seconds and has a fuel consumption figure of 9.3 litres/100 km.

Toyota Camry Handling

2012 Toyota Camry handling has also improved considerably. It takes direction changes in the middle of a fast turn easily. There are no untoward rebounds once a turn is complete. Even though Toyota Camry now uses an electric power-steering system to save fuel the feel of steering is better.

The ABS-assisted brakes are great. Toyota Camry offers ride comfort, it is silent up to 100 kph and gets progressively louder as the speed inches towards 140 kph. Forward visibility is excellent, while parking is easy thanks to the rear camera and mildly-weighted steering. The ride is fairly smooth, flattening big bumps with ease, though making some rough road surfaces obvious sometimes. Floatiness of the old model is now gone.
